When we realized that we could combine our names into one of Dolly Parton’s most iconic songs, it was one of the happiest moments of our joint advertising career—right up there with making three Super Bowl spots, winning at Cannes and getting a D&AD pencil.

We’ve been partners off and mostly on since grad school at The University of Texas. And we’ve been Creative Directors at GSD&M in Austin, Texas, for the last three years.

Leigh’s the writer. Jon’s the AD. But we always dip our toes in both.

Strangely, it works because we’re basically opposites…

Jon spends his vacations close to home. Leigh travels the globe. 

Jon loves traditions; Leigh likes new. 

Jon’s a country boy; Leigh’s a city girl. 

Jon obsesses over sports; Leigh doesn’t even watch the Olympics.

You get it.

We fight like old married people, but always to make the idea better.

And we both have a crazy work ethic and a dark sense of humor. So we work a lot, but laugh even more.
